ABOUT ME
Nydia Resto is a Puerto Rican performer from Vega Alta whose artistic journey began at the age of ten when she joined her school choir. Her talent and dedication soon earned her a place in the prestigious San Juan Children’s Choir, an acclaimed ensemble in Puerto Rico known for its rigorous training in music theory and sight-reading. Through this experience, Resto performed internationally, including appearances during President Barack Obama’s inaugural events in Washington, D.C., and before Pope Francis at the Vatican during an audience with the Supreme Pontiff.
After graduating from high school, Resto attended the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, where she majored in Theatre Studies with a concentration in Acting. During her university years, she continued performing with renowned choral groups, including Coralia, the Concert Choir of the University of Puerto Rico, touring and competing internationally in Ecuador, Colombia, and Italy.
While in college, Resto participated in theatrical productions such as Platero y Yo, a physically driven performance piece in which actors used movement and body expression to portray natural elements such as grass, fire, and wind. Simultaneously, she trained at Centro Danza in Puerto Rico, focusing on ballet, jazz, and ballroom dance. Her dance training led to performances in productions including Swan Lake and The Lion King. She also pursued classical vocal training at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico as a mezzo-soprano.
Following graduation, Resto performed as part of the ensemble in original Puerto Rican productions such as Charlie The Musical, Mameyes, and La Guagua Aérea, as well as internationally recognized musicals including Beauty and the Beast and Les Misérables.
In 2024, Resto was cast as Sara Rodríguez at Blue Gate Theater in Shipshewana, Indiana. Since then, she has continued performing in several revue productions at Blue Gate Theater, including Songs of the Season, Classical Country Show, and Gospel Show.
